Introduction

The Greenville Development Association (GDA) is a project-based, non-political, humanitarian organization established in August 2008 by concerned and caring Greenvillians who want to actively participate not only in the socio-economic and infrastructural development of their city – Greenville, but also in the physical and mental development of the citizenry after a devastating war.

The organization will work in partnership with the legal authorities of the city in determining, prioritizing, and engaging in project(s) and/or service(s) that will in “little” ways make a difference and positively improve and affect people’s lives.

Greenville Development Association will also participate and care for her members in good and difficult times to develop and establish a family-like bond.

On this foundation, the organization has developed the following vision and mission statement:

Vision:-
A Caring Family Unit for all Greenvillians

Mission Statement: –

  1. To serve as an Extended Family Unit for the people of

Greenville and,

  1. To serve as a catalyst in providing funds and services to assist with development projects in Greenville.

Leadership

The Greenville Development Association shall have no elected officers and all appointments are voluntary and shall be voted upon by the body.

The organizational structure is as follows:
Coordinator
Financial Secretary/Treasurer
Secretary
Chaplin

Duties/Functions and Tenure

Coordinator:- Oversees the operation of the organization, project(s), and
activities. The Coordinator can be any member who feels confident
to serve in such capacity and willing to work selflessly for the cause
of the organization and humanity. The member tenure in this
position is determined by the body.

Financial Secretary/Treasurer:- shall maintain all financial documents /records
and bank account. He/She shall be accountable to GDA and
body to produce and make available regular financial statements and
reports. Auditing can be conducted at any time upon request by the
body. This position is opened to any qualified member and tenure is
again determined by the body.

Secretary:- shall record and maintain all administrative document/reports and
work diligently with the Coordinator to advance the cause of GDA in
a professional manner. This position is opened to any qualified
member and tenure is again determined by the body.

Chaplin:- the primary responsibility of this member is to invoke God’s
presence and blessings upon the hands and works of GDA including
her members, projects, and activities, etc.

Membership

The membership of GDA is opened to all – Greenvillian, Sinoean, Liberian, and Friends of Greenville who are heartily willing to subscribe to the organization’s vision, mission, and established purpose and eager to be active participants in the pursuit of these objectives.

It is imperative that all current and prospective members be in full agreement and consonance with the organization’s mission, vision, and established purpose. No member and/or prospective member shall use GDA for any political reason or agenda. No member and/or prospective member shall use GDA to advance and/or promote self-interest.

GDA Funds and Finances

GDA shall establish a bank account and immediately apply to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for a charitable 501©(3) status.
Funds shall be collected through Individual Member Contributions, Fund-Raising Programs, Donations, Grants, etc.

GDA Project(s)

GDA is a project-based organization and as such all funds collected must first and foremost be directed and allocated to funding new and/or existing project(s).
All expenditure must be approved by the body and regular progress reports must be presented as updates and for evaluations.
This is the core and established propose of GDA.

Meetings

Regular monthly Meetings shall be called and held via teleconferencing by the Coordinator to discuss projects and/or pertinent issues that are relevant to GDA. As the organization grows, annual gathering may be deemed necessary.

Conclusion
This simple document speaks volume as to the formation and purpose of GDA. GDA’s vision, mission, and established purpose are just as simple, but highly worthy and ambitious. Each one of us is called to freely and selflessly offer our time, talent, and resources to help ease the pains and sufferings of the people of Greenville, Sinoe County- Liberia, West Africa.
